What We Collect

We keep data collection to a minimum. Here is exactly what we store and why:

• Email address — if you subscribe to the newsletter or create an account. Used to send you the daily newsletter and account-related communications. Nothing else.
• Account data — if you create an account, we store your email and saved article preferences through Supabase Auth.
• Analytics — we use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand how people use the site. These collect anonymous, aggregated data (page views, performance metrics). No cookies are used for tracking.

How We Use Your Data

• Sending the daily newsletter (if you subscribed)
• Sending a welcome email when you subscribe
• Maintaining your account and saved articles
• Understanding site usage through anonymous analytics

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Period.

Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of services to run The Split:

• Supabase — database hosting and user authentication
• Vercel — website hosting and analytics
• Resend — email delivery for newsletters and account emails

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. Your data is processed in accordance with their terms.

Cookies

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Supabase Auth uses a session cookie to keep you logged in if you create an account. Vercel Analytics is cookie-free.

Your Rights

You can at any time:

• Unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link at the bottom of any email
• Delete your account and all associated data by contacting us
• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you

Data Retention

Newsletter subscriber emails are retained until you unsubscribe. Account data is retained until you delete your account. Anonymous analytics data is retained according to Vercel's standard retention periods.

Changes to This Policy

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may notify subscribers via email.
